In the fall of 2015 our team traveled to northern Manitoba to film a co-production with World Wildlife Fund and Natural Habitat Adventures. The goal of the trip was to shoot two films:
– A polar bear conservation film designed to inspire a general audience to care about climate change.
– A film designed to highlight and promote Natural Habitat Adventure’s polar bear trips.
The creative approaches for the two films varied dramatically, which presented challenges in the field. We had a tight production window and had to constantly switch our minds (and shooting styles) back and forth–there was no ability to segregate one production from the other. Short, cold days and the unpredictability of filming wildlife compounded any creative difficulties. But despite the challenges, the images and stories continually exceeded our expectations.
Both films are nearly finished now and will be released online shortly!
