Wyoming Tourism — That's WY
Director — Wyoming Office of Tourism / BVK

The "That's WY" campaign for the Wyoming Office of Tourism was built around a simple premise: instead of selling the landscape, tell the stories of the people who chose it. A wildlife photographer who has spent seven years following animal migrations through western Wyoming. A professional bullfighter who has been knocked out, broken bones, and keeps coming back. A third-generation rope maker whose family has been crafting equipment for working cowboys since the 1960s. A sculptor who drives into Yellowstone every morning with clay and spotting scopes, finding his subjects in wild animals and his themes in universal human emotions.

We made nine short documentary films for the campaign, each one a portrait of someone whose life is inseparable from the place they've chosen to call home. The subjects were as varied as Wyoming itself, but the through line was always the same: why are you here? The films let them answer that question in their own words.

The campaign ran across television, social media, and publications including National Geographic Traveler, Backpacker, and Smithsonian. Four of the films are above.
